Clinica de Esperanza Renovations Complete

The Clinica de Esperanza is a 57-year-old adobe building. Electricity runs through pvc pipes on the outside of walls. When the trees started growing through the floors, adobe started flaking off the walls and the termites started coming through the roof, it was time for a major renovation.

Before the new could be completed, the old had to be removed.  They had to scrape all the adobe off the walls, dig up the floors and get the trees out.  All the furniture and equipment had to be removed from inside the clinic. 

For 17 days, teams of up to 8 workers worked for 15 hours a day. Gayle Davidson, the founder of the clinic was the supervisor for the entire renovation.  The furniture was recovered, the floors received new tile, and the walls were given a new layer of stucco.  The walls were then painted, and newly painted trim was added.  All the doors and windows were painted as well.

The goal of the clinic is to provide healthcare for 4,000 people per year who do not have access or funds for basic health needs. This includes medical diagnosis, treatment, medication, dental care, nutrition and education in basic hygiene. The goal is to enable these individuals to lead a healthier and more productive life.
