IRC Expands into Guatemala
The journey started last February when our Executive Director, Tim Hines, traveled to Guatemala City to explore the possibility of establishing IRC in Guatemala. He met with officials in the government, as well as leaders of other non-profits organizations to gather information on what it would take to establish IRC in Guatemala.
He returned again in April, to start the paperwork and legal processes, and then again in July, with some veteran mission partners to scout out possible people to serve and places to stay for a mission group.
He returned in February with his wife, and his son, Dalton Hines, who is currently serving as a full-time missionary in Honduras, and Dalton’s family. They connected with a local church, met with some current Guatemalan missionaries, and finalized the legal paperwork for IRC with the lawyers, making it a legal foundation in Guatemala.
This summer the first mission group, led by Tim Hines and Terry Reeves will be serving the Guatemalan community. We are excited to see where this leads IRC in the future of serving the Guatemalan people.
