IRC Helps Rebuild after Fires Destroy Houses in Honduras

During the month of January and February, IRC helped rebuild houses in a community called 21 de Octubre that experienced a large fire early in the month. This community is on the bank of a river, very small, compact, congested, and extremely poor. Ten families lost their homes, and most tragically one family lost their 6-year-old daughter, who was napping when the fire hit and devoured a section of the community.  Six families lost everything, there is nothing left standing.  Four families had concrete homes, but lost their roofs, doors, windows, and their belongings.

IRC, through Mark Connell and other volunteers received donations to rebuild four houses, all 10 homes have been rebuilt.  Thank you for helping restore these people’s lives.
