IRC Helps Bring a New Missionary Family to Honduras

This past October, a new missionary family has moved down to Honduras to support the work of IRC in the Tegucigalpa area.  IRC helped Dalton and Jen Hines move their family of 5 from the Covington, LA area to the Santa Ana area, right outside of Tegucigalpa, to work full-time with the area churches. 

Their journey started prayerfully as they felt a pull towards that area where they both have previously done short term missions.  When Dalton was a child, his family lived and worked as missionaries in the Tegucigalpa area for 3 years.  Both of them felt that God was calling them to make this move in their life and have been blessed by the decision.

So far in the three months since their arrival they have hosted a Teen lock-in, a Kid’s day at the Santa Ana church, handed out bibles to local churches for newly baptized members, Dalton is in the preaching rotation at the Santa Ana church, Jen is co- teaching a Sunday school class and fixing lunch for the children on Sundays.  There have been many projects on the property that Dalton has done and overseen to prepare the buildings and the grounds to host retreats.  These projects include water purification and heating, ground leveling, creating property-wide wifi, replacing drainage pipes and installing security cameras for the Clinica de Esperanza, replacing pipes to make the bathrooms for the Santa Ana church functional.  

Dalton, Jen, and their boys traveled to Guatemala in early February, with Tim and Marcia Hines, to help scout future places and people to serve.  They scouted out a mission house and connected with a local church, and also spent time with Dunc Dyason, who works with street kids in Guatemala City, whom we will be partnering with on future projects in the city.  

This past weekend they were able to attend a Missionary retreat where they were able to network with other missionaries, make new friends well as rest and rejuvenate.  

Dalton is currently organizing a Men’s Workshop in Tegucigalpa which will be on April 6th.  They will also be helping with TORCH groups this summer, as well as continuing to find opportunities to serve in the Tegucigalpa area.
